‌The working principle of the oval gear flowmeter
The working principle of the oval gear flowmeter is based on the rotation of the oval gear, and the flow rate of the fluid is calculated by measuring the speed of the gear. ‌
When the measured liquid enters the instrument through the inlet pipe of the flowmeter and enters the oval gear chamber, due to the pressure difference generated at the inlet and outlet,
the oval gears will start to rotate continuously. A crescent-shaped cavity is formed between the oval gear and the housing, which is used as the calculation unit of the displacement.
As the gears rotate, they continuously transport the liquid measured by the crescent-shaped cavity to the outlet. The product of the number of revolutions of the oval gear and four times
the displacement each time is the total flow rate of the measured liquid. ‌

The main features of the oval gear flowmeter include:
1. ‌High-precision measurement‌: Its measurement is independent of the flow state of the fluid, suitable for the measurement of high-viscosity media, with small leakage and high measurement accuracy.
2. ‌Wide range of application‌: It is suitable for flow measurement work in industrial sectors such as chemical, petroleum, medicine, electricity, metallurgy and food.
3. ‌Material diversity‌: It can be manufactured with different materials (cast iron, cast steel, 304 stainless steel, 316 stainless steel, etc.). However, oval gear flowmeters also have their limitations.
For example, they are not suitable for fluids containing solid particles, because solid particles may jam the gears, resulting in failure to measure flow. In addition, if there is gas mixed in the measured liquid medium, it may also cause measurement errors.
